Sals Star of the Week: Mr. Petr Kresta (introduced by Ross Feldman)
Petr Kresta, Chief Operating Officer, Diagnostic Services, Shared Health is retiring at the end of this week after a very distinguished career, capped by guiding provincial diagnostic services through the formation of Shared Health Diagnostic Services.
From a Cardiac Sciences perspective we would like to recognize Petr for his leadership and transformational roles as the driving force in the incorporation of that component of our cardiac mandate, viz., Non Invasive Cardiac Testing (NICT) as a truly provincial service. Specifically, he has been instrumental in improving the accessibility of cardiac diagnostic services for all Manitobans, as in the establishment of echocardiography in Selkirk and next year at the Grace Hospital.
As well he has led the efforts to provincialize cardiac services- as in the current efforts to institute a single provincial Event Recorder service. Thus for his leadership role in bringing Cardiac Sciences NICT into the Diagnostic Services family and his ongoing efforts to make Cardiac Sciences NICT a truly provincial service, Petr is a very worthy Sals Star.

This annual event acknowledges the contributions of the nearly 90,000 Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) in North America. Our CNS have had a critical role in the growth of CSMB, having been instrumental in a broad range of transformational initiatives including the ACS Network and the Heart Team initiative. Please join me in recognizing Emily and Lorraine both for their special week and for the work they do for Cardiac Sciences and Manitobans with cardiac disease 52 weeks of the year.
