Sal’s Star of the Week: ACS Network
The ACS Network has had a history spanning 3 decades and was one of the early “wins” of the newly established Cardiac Sciences Program. In 2008 the Code STEMI program was initiated that has been an important step in reducing in hospital mortality. In 2014 the ACS Network was formally constituted and has been important in the development of a range of provincial standards- 17 at last count!. The work of a number of members of the Cardiac Science Program have been integral in the development of the ACSN, especially that of the leadership of John Ducas, Lorraine Avery and now Shuangbo Liu.
This past several weeks has been a very notable time for the ACSN, for several reasons. Firstly, Friday they held another very successful Heart Attack Day, a major CHE event for health care providers across MB. However, this week we are recognizing the ACSN team as a very deserving Sal’s Star of the Week- for the work they have done in implementing the Dial Don’t Drive Campaign, directing STEMI patients to an ambulance and NOT to a lift from the family. This is an important public health effort and continues a long history of achievement for this truly dedicated team. Congratulations to the ACSN for your recent successes and for your almost 15 years of dedicated efforts improving cardiac care in Manitoba.
