Sals Star of the Week: Oksana Sosnovska

This week I would like to take a moment to recognize Oksana Sosnovska as the Sals Star of the week. Oksana is a nurse on 5A Cardiology, and this week was placed in the unenviable position of being assigned charge nurse responsibility with little to no prior training or experience in that role, during a challenging week with high acuity and high patient volumes. Oksana managed this responsibility with poise, acting as an advocate for patients, safe patient care and for her team. Her communication was honest and respectful, and she was thoughtful in her decision making.

Celebrating TAVI Tuesday
September 11 is the 10th anniversary of performing TAVIs in Manitoba! In this time, we have provided care to over 600 patients. It takes a team to deliver exceptional care and to celebrate this team, there was a drop in celebration on September 6th. Posters sharing a timeline of TAVI in Manitoba, outcomes, and volumes were created and will be housed in the CR1 clinic area. There were video messages from the TAVI MDs, patients, and many of the team members who support TAVI sharing congratulations, thanks, and the various roles supporting TAVI. Thank you to all who attended and to the entire team who cares for TAVI patients. We look forward to the future of TAVI in Manitoba!
