Pacemaker Implant Lab

The pacemaker lab at St. Boniface Hospital is one of two pacemaker labs in Manitoba. The pacemaker lab inserts pacemakers, which are electronic devices that are surgically inserted and used to treat certain types of bradycardia.

The pacemaker lab also implants cardiac devices such as:

  • ICDs
  • Cardiac Resynchronization therapy devices
  • Loop recorders

Approximately 700- 800 pacemakers are inserted per year and 400 ICD/CRT-d insertions per year.

Patients undergoing procedures in the pacemaker lab are prepared and recovered in the Y2 Pre-& Post Recovery Area.
