Sals Star of the Week: Derrick Hibbert!

Derrick Hibbert, a Perfusionist in Cardiac Sciences is my Sals Star of the Week!! Derrick began his career at St. Boniface Hospital in 1996 as an ICU nurse, proceeding to expand his career in 2005 where he became a Perfusionist in the CSP. He has been involved with many process improvement projects and has worked with the team to make advancements within Cardiac Sciences.
He is a mentor and great liaison with academic sites providing guidance on student coordination and assisting with education. He also provides support to our health care team, whether it is about basic equipment or pathophysiology. Derrick is a VAD coordinator working with care team in the inpatient and outpatient worlds.
Most recently he has been tasked and selflessly accepted the role of providing his knowledge and expertise to ensure we have a safe process for interfacility transport of our VAD patient population, an important component of providing provincial cardiac care.
Thanks to Derrick for his dedication to his profession and to our patients.
