About

Lorraine provides regional support to cardiac patients, nurses and teams involved in cardiac care throughout the province. Lorraine’s work is focused on the standardization and harmonization of cardiac services and the initiation, implementation and support for innovative initiatives to improve the delivery of nursing and cardiac healthcare services.

With more than 20 years experience as an advanced practice nurse, Lorraine is a leader in the development of evidence-informed practice tools. She is the co-lead of the regional acute coronary syndrome (ACS) clinical pathway and currently co-chairs the Manitoba Acute Coronary Syndrome Network, a network dedicating to improving the outcomes of ACS patients within the province.

Lorraine has completed additional education related to systematic review development and the development of national clinical practice guidelines. Lorraine has co-authored a number of regional policies and guidelines that support cardiac care within the region.

The advancement and support for the Clinical Nurse Specialist role is Lorraine’s passion through mentorship and participation on a variety of local and national committees. She has presented locally and nationally on the role of the clinical nurse specialist.

Lorraine’s research interests focus on supporting cardiac patients transitioning from hospital to home. In addition, Lorraine research is also focused on knowledge sources important to cardiac nurses in the delivery of clinical care. Her doctoral dissertation was a mixed method study that focused on nurses’ ways of knowing and structural empowerment.
