What is the Shared Health Initiative? What will be its impact on the Cardiac Sciences Program?

Along with most of the CSP leadership, I attended the Shared Health provincial planning workshop on Friday. As you know, this initiative aims to redraw the framework for the delivery of clinical and preventive services across Manitoba. Those aims are convergent with the goals of the CSP in the context of our services- both diagnostic and consultative. The kickoff of Shared Health is especially timely given our current efforts, under the leadership of Essi Shams (our Manager of QI and Patient Safety), to map out the patient journeys for our 6 major clinical programs and to establish new, more efficient and effective pathways for them– featuring a much expanded role for our “access office”.

We will have important roles in shaping Shared Health’s vision for cardiac services. I co-chair the Cardio-Thoracic- Vascular Provincial Clinical Team (PCT)- joined by the CSP leadership and I also serve on the Integrated Leadership Team (that the PCT’s report to). Together, we look forward to updating you (and getting your input) on the Shared Health planning process as it impacts on the CSP as we progress down this road. Stay tuned.
