Cardiac Procedure Preparation Clinic (CPPC)

The Cardiac Procedure Preparation Clinic (CPPC), located in the Bergen Building at St. Boniface Hospital, is a clinic that prepares patients for cardiac procedures. This clinic is staffed by Registered Nurses who work together with the Interventional Cardiologists to ensure patients are adequately prepared for their procedure.

When a patient has been referred for a cardiac procedure, this referral is triaged, and the patient is scheduled for the procedure. In the days and weeks before the scheduled procedure, a CPPC Nurse will review the patient’s chart, and contact the patient by telephone to review important information. The nurses will confirm the date and time of procedure, review specific patient education on the various cardiac procedures, review any specific medication instructions, and answer any questions for the patient regarding the upcoming procedures.

The most common procedures that the Cardiac Procedure Preparation Clinic will review with the patient are as follows:

  • Angiogram
  • Angioplasty
  • Right Heart Catheterization
  • Left Heart Catheterization
  • Cardiac Biopsy
