Cardiac Surgery Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic (CPAC)

The Cardiac Surgery Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic (CPAC), located in the Asper Institute at St. Boniface Hospital, is one of the Cardiac Clinics in the CR1 Nurse Practitioner Clinic.  This clinic is staffed by Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners. The goal of CPAC is to ensure that patients are safe to proceed with their cardiac surgery or procedure, and to adequately prepare the patients with specific instructions. The Nurse Practitioners will do a thorough medical history and physical on all the patients, which includes a medication review. Additional work-up, such as bloodwork, vital signs, EKG, and/or chest X-ray will be completed in this clinic, as well as reviewing specific patient education material for upcoming surgery/procedure. A Cardiac Anesthetist will review each patient in preparation for the surgery and determine if the patient is safe to proceed.

All of these appointments are in-person.
