Electrophysiology (EP) Pre-Procedure Clinic

The Electrophysiology (EP) Pre-Procedure Clinic, located in the Bergen Cardiac Center at St. Boniface Hospital, is a clinic that prepares patients for EP procedures. It is staffed by Registered Nurses who work with the Electrophysiology Physicians to ensure that patients are prepared for their procedure.

When a patient has been referred for an Electrophysiology procedure, this referral is triaged by the EP physician and referral is forwarded to the Access Office for scheduling. In the days and weeks before the scheduled procedure, an EP nurse will review the patient’s chart, and contact the patient by telephone to review important information. The nurses will confirm the date and time of procedure, review specific patient education on the various procedures, review any specific medication instructions, and answer any questions for the patients regarding the upcoming procedures.

The procedures that the EP Nurse will review with the patients are as follows:

  • Electrophysiology Study
  • Atrial Flutter Ablation
  • Supraventricular Tachycardia Ablation
  • Atrial Tachycardia Ablation
  • Wolfe-Parkinson-White Ablation
  • Pulmonary Vein Ablation
  • Ventricular Ablations
  • AV Node Ablations
