Sals Star of the Week: RJ Briz (introduced by Kelly Lewington)
RJ Briz is a nurse working on the 6A Medicine/Cardiology unit (Orange and Red Zones). He graduated from nursing 2 years ago, doing his practicum on this unit.
The weekend of September 18 & 19th proved to be especially challenging for staffing. RJ, working 12 hour nights, spent time with the nursing supervisor looking at different possibilities for patient assignments and safe patient workloads. He exhibited exceptional critical thinking skills, calmness and a willingness to collaborate. The nursing supervisor, Mel Damm, commented on his valuable assistance in reaching decisions for staffing levels and safe patient care.
RJ is this week’s Sal’s Star of the Week, demonstrating the resilience and dedication so needed during this time of turbulence.
