Sal’s Stars of the Week: Mudra Dave

This week’s Sal’s Star goes to someone who embodies ‘going above and beyond’ in their day-to-day. This individuals talents, just to name a few –
- Researcher and team member of a top level research center and team
- Professional and lifelong learner, first year student in the Masters of Science in Kinesiology program at University of Manitoba – thesis project is to determine whether physical activity prior to heart surgery can help predict post-surgery delirium in older adults undergoing heart surgery at the St. Boniface Hospital
- Outside of school and work, a badminton aficionado, blog-writer and nature photographer
- AND just when you thought you didn’t have enough hours in the day – Website editor supporting our humble CSMB website team!
- AND BONUS… pleasant, fun, and an engaging person to work with!!!
Even with such a busy schedule, Mudra goes above and beyond to help the team achieve their goals – actively connecting with staff to see how and where she can chip in to support the team and program. Most recently Mudra volunteered for and attended internal website editor training and orientation. She is now working closely alongside the small website working group to help process a list of outstanding website updates. In a few short weeks that she has been with our team, she has stepped up to the challenge completing several key updates and bringing forward new ideas to strengthen our processes, our team, and our communications. We are lucky to have Mudra part of our team. Thank you Mudra for your ongoing support and contributions, for your expertise, positive attitude, and for being a great team player and collaborator!
Good News
Dr. Malek Kass:
January 17, 2023, the structural heart team (Drs. Kass and Shah), with a multi-disciplinary team, were able to implant the first in Manitoba Gore Cardioform ASD device under GA/TEE with excellent results in a patient with an atrial septal defect and deficient posterior rim. This device opens up other patients that were not candidates for percutaneous ASD closure in the past. Congratulations to Dr. Kass, Dr. Shah and the entire Structural Heart Team.
